Brittle or weak nails may signal several underlying issues related to health,

nutrition, or daily habits. Here are some common possibilities 👀👇

1. Nutrient Deficiencies

Weak nails are often linked to a lack of important nutrients such as:

Iron – Low iron levels can cause thin, brittle nails.

Biotin (Vitamin B7) – Important for nail strength and growth.

Zinc and Protein – Help maintain healthy nail structure.

2. Frequent Exposure to Water or Chemicals

Constant contact with water, detergents, or cleaning products can dry out the nails, making them weak and easy to break.

3. Aging

As people age, nails may naturally become drier and more brittle due to reduced moisture and slower nail growth.

4. Thyroid Problems

Conditions like Hypothyroidism can sometimes lead to brittle, thin nails along with fatigue, dry skin, and hair thinning.

5. Fungal Infections

A nail infection such as Onychomycosis can cause nails to become weak, discolored, thick, or crumbly.

6. Dehydration

Not drinking enough water can also affect nail health, making them dry and fragile.

✅ What can help strengthen nails:

Eat foods rich in iron, biotin, and protein (eggs, nuts, spinach).

Wear gloves when using cleaning chemicals.

Keep nails moisturized with oils or hand creams.

Avoid excessive nail polish removers containing acetone.

⚠️ Important:

If your nails suddenly become very brittle, change color, or break easily for a long time, it may be best to consult a doctor to check for underlying health issues.
