Many cancers do not cause symptoms early on, but some warning signs should never be ignored. Having one of these signs does not always mean cancer, but it’s important to get checked by a doctor if symptoms last for weeks or keep getting worse.
1. Unexplained Weight Loss
Losing weight without dieting or exercising—especially more than 4–5 kg—can sometimes be linked to cancers of the stomach, pancreas, lungs, or other organs.
2. Constant Fatigue
Feeling extremely tired all the time, even after resting, may be a warning sign when combined with other symptoms.
3. Persistent Pain
Long-lasting pain in the bones, chest, abdomen, or headaches that do not improve should be evaluated.
4. Changes in the Skin
Watch for:
New moles
Changes in size or color of moles
Yellowing of the skin
Sores that don’t heal
5. Unusual Bleeding
Blood in urine, stool, coughing blood, or unusual vaginal bleeding can sometimes signal serious conditions, including cancer.
6. A Lump or Swelling
A painless lump in the breast, neck, testicles, or underarms should always be checked.
7. Persistent Cough or Hoarseness
A cough lasting more than 3 weeks or a voice that stays hoarse may need medical attention.
8. Changes in Bathroom Habits
Long-term constipation, diarrhea, blood in stool, or difficulty urinating can be warning signs.
9. Difficulty Swallowing
Trouble swallowing food or feeling like food gets stuck may indicate problems in the throat or digestive tract.
10. Frequent Infections or Fever
Repeated infections, night sweats, or fevers without a clear reason can sometimes be linked to blood-related cancers.
When to See a Doctor
Seek medical advice if symptoms:
Last more than 2–3 weeks
Become worse over time
Appear together with fatigue or weight loss
Early detection greatly improves treatment success for many cancers.
